I think it was Victor Ramdin who said.... "Sometimes, you just have to be willing to lose!"
That doesn't necessarily mean you have to be eager about it!!!!
How many times do you see a player lose a big hand or several medium sized hands in a row and then start throwing their chips "all in" with little regard for anything else that has been going on at the table, let alone their postion? We call this "Tilt"... We look for it in other players.... We try to not let ourselves go on "Tilt".... But let's face it... that is sometimes easier said than done.
I have a suggestion that might help you the next time you start getting short stacked, you are being bullied and you can't seem to win a hand... and "Tilt" is rearing it's ugly head.... slow way down... tighten up... do the opposite of what everyone else will be expecting from you. If you must, "Broom Corn's Uncle" your way out of the tournament by waiting until your last chip goes in as a blind or ante... but NEVER give up. NEVER throw your chips in the pot as a last ditch effort to survive... If during this period you look at your cards and feel compelled to push all in because of the strength of those cards relative to your position... then knock yourself out... but don't push out of "Tilt". Will you still experience "Tilt"? Sure you will, just let it come out of you differently than it does others...
I have gone on to win tournaments when I was down to the felt wih no chips left.... On the other hand, I have been put out of tournaments many, many times by employing the old all in bet after taking a bad loss.... If you are going out, do it with style and class and maintain the possiblity that you might come back all the way to the bitter end. You never know what the cards you didn't get to see had instore for you!
Ginger says:
"You never know what the cards you didn't get to see had in store for you" - Wow! That would be a great epitaph for a poker player...
